How to play
- Pick your opponent. Play against the computer, or switch to 2 Players and share one screen — X and O take turns on the same device, pass-and-play style.
- Choose a difficulty. Easy still makes mistakes you can punish; Hard plays flawless minimax strategy and can never be beaten — the best anyone can do against it is force a draw.
- Make a move. You always play X and move first. Tap or click any empty square on a touch screen, or press a number key: keys 1 through 9 map to the grid from top-left to bottom-right.
- Navigate by keyboard. Arrow keys move a bold-framed cursor square by square; press Enter or Space to drop your piece on it. Backspace or U takes a move back.
- Know the goal. Line up three of your marks in a row, a column or a diagonal. The winning line is flagged instantly with an inverted black-and-white highlight across its three squares.
- Undo mistakes. Against the computer, one Undo steps back both your move and the computer's reply, returning the board to your turn; in two-player mode it takes back a single move.
- Track the record. Your wins, losses and draws against the computer are counted on this device and shown beside the board — see how long you can hold a perfect opponent to a draw.

Why it works on e-ink
Tic-tac-toe is nine squares and two marks, and e-ink redraws only the square you touch. No blinking, no animation, no refresh hiding behind the board — just crisp black strokes on paper-white. The grid reads perfectly in direct daylight and barely touches the battery, so a quick match never becomes a recharge break.

If you have a Kindle from 2021 or later — Paperwhite, Scribe or Colorsoft — running firmware 5.13.7 or newer, yes. Open the built-in browser and load this page. Older Kindles with the early experimental browser can display this page as text, but the game itself will not start.
Do I need to jailbreak my Kindle?
No. The game runs entirely in the web browser your Kindle already ships with. There is no app to sideload and no hack to apply — if the device can open a web page, it can play. Nothing about your warranty changes.
Can I play offline?
You need an internet connection the first time this page loads, because the site is delivered as an ordinary web page rather than a downloadable app. Once loaded, the game runs on the device itself, and your board and win record are saved locally between visits.
