How to play
- Guess today's five-letter word. Every player gets the same word each day — the puzzle is tied to the date, not to your device, so you can compare results with friends. You have six tries, and a new word arrives tomorrow.
- Type your first guess. Tap the on-screen QWERTY keyboard with a finger or stylus, or type on a physical keyboard if your e-reader has one or a keyboard is paired — hardware keys, Enter and Backspace all work alongside the touch keyboard.
- Read the feedback. After each guess the tiles answer in pure black and white: a solid black tile means the letter sits in the right spot, a bold outlined tile means the letter is in the word but somewhere else, and a thin outlined tile means it is not in the word at all.
- Watch the keyboard history. Every on-screen key carries the same three marks for letters you have already tried, so at a glance you know which letters are placed, which survive elsewhere, and which are dead ends.
- Mind repeated letters. The hidden word may contain the same letter twice; the feedback counts each copy carefully, so a bold outline never promises more copies than the word actually holds.
- Play unlimited practice rounds. Done with the daily word and hungry for more? Switch to Practice mode for a fresh random word at any time — practice rounds never touch your daily result, win streak or statistics.
- Share and come back. When the puzzle ends, a plain-text result grid appears — long-press to select and copy it anywhere you like. Your daily progress, streak and statistics are saved on your device automatically.

Does it work on my Kindle Paperwhite?
On Paperwhite, Scribe and Colorsoft models from 2021 onward with firmware 5.13.7 or newer, yes — the built-in browser runs the whole game. Older Kindles with the early experimental browser can read this page as plain text, but the puzzle itself will not start on them.
Do I need to jailbreak my Kindle?
No. The game runs entirely inside the browser your Kindle already ships with. There is no app to install, no file to sideload and no modification of any kind — if your device can open an ordinary web page, it can play Word Daily.
Can I play offline?
You need a connection the first time the page loads, because the site is delivered as a normal web page rather than a downloadable app. Once it has loaded, every guess runs on the device itself and your streak is stored locally — but plan to be online when you start.
